Design notes - Mumjuggling / Dadjuggling Dec 19

We like to share the thinking behind our design so here are the design notes for Mumjuggling and Dadjuggling Dec 2019 for your interest.

We chose the name mumjuggling because our market research with mums gave us the insight they felt they spent a lot of time juggling priorities.
We chose the order of the text in the balls left to right based on what we believe most mums would prioritise as important in their life. Some of the balls are the same for dads, but some are quite different.
We used what is called a ‘mask layer’ to create the text behind the silhouetted juggler. This is quite common in T-shirt design but was our first design on three-brains using it.
There’s also a gradient added to the balls and a slight warp in the text to create more of a 3D effect.
We originally had the ‘mum juggling’ text above the design but we think it works better below.
The little love heart on the letter ‘i’ is there just to show a bit of love for mums.
We chose the red and magenta colours based on how we thought the design would work with certain T-shirt colours.
